Hello! I'm Darshna, the founder of MokshYoga. For me, yoga is life. Both energising and deeply restorative, my classes combine a range of asana (postures) with different pranayama (breath) techniques to create space in the body, let go of tension, massage the internal organs and relax the mind.
My unique teaching style is influenced by the depth of understanding of anatomy and physiology in Iyengar Yoga and Yoga Sport Science. The spirituality, philosophy and subtle aspects of yoga such as chakra (energy centres in the body), bandha (body locks) and mudra (hand, eye and body gestures) are found in Satyananda Yoga, a key practice with influences my teaching greatly.
With over 2 decades in coaching, my experiences have shown me not only the traditional importance yoga plays in recovery, flexibility and well-being of the body, but also of its vital importance in improving the mental well-being of an athlete. Through interventions, we can see strong correlations with improved decision making under pressure, and a feeling of calmness when performing which gives athletes a mental edge by being able to control and coordinate brain and body.
I am a qualified Yoga Sports Coach™, and through a tailored sport-specific coaching program we can work through a number of components, including:
- Proprioceptive Awareness
- Injury Prevention & Management
- The Nature of the Mind
- Application of Functional Yoga

I have been attending yoga classes with Darshna for about 2 years now and it's the perfect sanctuary to find calm relaxation, after a busy day in the office. I only ask myself why I didn't go sooner and felt immediately welcome and at home. I would thoroughly recommend the classes because of her calmness and experience.
A great generous teacher and open human being who ensures you not only benefit from the physical practice of yoga but the mental and spiritual benefits as well. It doesn't matter if you're a novice; I promise you won't regret it. Give it a try!
I feel very lucky to have found Darshna’s classes. I travel all the way from Camden to Ealing, first thing in the morning to take part in her classes. Darshna takes into account her students requirements and makes adjustments accordingly for the individual. I love the pace of her class, Darshna doesn’t just go through the sequence or motions - she takes the time to make sure alignment of her students is correct before moving forward and uniquely she engages with her students and gives them the opportunity to express what they are feeling through out the class. I feel Darshna’s class gives me the true benefits of yoga, in that not only do I receive physical achievement to my somewhat inflexible body but I also obtain emotional release and inner peacefulness.
Darshna is the Yoga instructor for Northwick Park Hospital's Mental Health Centre. She has run a very popular Yoga session for the Adult Acute wards for approximately 9 years. Darshna is consistently praised for her ability to adapt yoga moves to suit the individual needs of group members. She is clearly passionate about Yoga, which is reflected in her ability to teach and motivate people to practice Yoga. Her Yoga class is a true asset to the overall group therapy timetable at Northwick Park Hospital and I would highly recommend her.
I joined Darshna's yoga classes 6 years ago due to shoulder pain which was caused by bad posture. Coming to her classes, she has transformed me both physically and mentally. My posture is perfect now and get compliments on my tall straight back when sitting. She's a fantastic teacher and creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. She fully tailors her classes to a range of abilities. And I use breathing exercises that she taught me when I'm stressed and totally calms me down.
I have been doing yoga with Darshna for the last few months, she was recommended to me by a very close friend, and with no hesitation I would recommend these classes to anyone who wants to practice yoga. As these classes have helped me with my bad back, which I have been suffering for several years. Yoga has greatly helped with the occurrences of my backaches. Darshna has been nothing but encouraging and supportive through the practice of yoga poses and yoga principles. And the faith she has in me, of what I can achieve, has given me the self-belief that I can and I am successful. I am amazed that now I can stretch, balance, concentrate and control breathing. Darshna has got to be one of the most motivated people that I have ever met and this is what attracted me to stay in her yoga classes.
Breathe, Believe, Receive... Breathe in positivity, believe in yourself and you will receive the power to do anything. Last Tuesday, I was able to do the head stand all by myself, my legs felt like they were free and light, and naturally went up without effort. Considering this was only my second attempt at the full head stand, I was amazed and got a great sense of achievement. Thank you Darshna for teaching me and giving me the positivity to believe and gracefully receive the achievement.
As an avid weekend cyclist, I find myself in a set position with tightened hamstrings and shortened hip flexors. The seating position contributes to a tight body with a lack of joint mobility and spine extension. I was looking at ways to improve my cycling performance, mental focus and breathing. Darshna has helped to find balance and improve my love for cycling. My shoulders are more relaxed, and my body feels more supple, helping me attack hills and bring my average speed up. I feel I have gained muscular strength, and come out of rides with less aches and pains, even on the saddle! I feel balance and stability is also much better, and have seen great improvements in my cadence, and overall alertness is improved through using Yoga breathing techniques before and during the ride.
I really enjoy your classes and the way that you get every muscle group working. As we've been using Zoom, doing sequences has helped me personally to remember names of poses as I have poor short to long term memory. I love the upper body and tummy poses too, as these are areas not often used day to day. I really enjoyed being able to do evening classes on Zoom and I love being able to practice more than once a week, as I probably wouldn't do it on my own. I find I'm in a much better frame of mind after yoga and I feel like it calms me. Thank you so much!
I have been doing yoga with Darshna for over 8 years now and I find her very consistent, honest and motivating towards her students. She is an excellent teacher who takes pain and care to make sure everyone is doing the correct postures. She herself also keeps going for yoga courses to improve and learn new things which she than shares with us. I have tried other yoga classes and I must confess Darshna is the best I have come across.
I think you are an inspirational teacher who brings a great deal of life and teaching experience to your classes. You conduct classes in a warm, caring manner and they are always lively and different. Your approach to students is sensitive to their individual needs while remaining non-judgemental of their issues or background. So it's 10 out of 10 then!
I’ve been going to Darshna‘s classes for over a year and a half now - she is very patient and explains all the different postures carefully and calmly. She’s open and honest and has a very warm heart. She is always passing her experience and knowledge of the spiritual and mental benefits to her yogis. I definitely recommend her class to you all.
I'm Darshna Parmar, and I have been practicing and studying yoga since 1999, and teaching since 2007. I trained at the British Wheel of Yoga and the Institute of Yoga Sports Science, earning me diplomas in the field. In 2020, I registered with Yoga Alliance Professional as a Senior Yoga Teacher, confirming that I have completed over 10,000 hours of teaching.
I started my personal journey 1999 after attending a yoga class at a local church: it was much needed sanctuary during challenging times. Once qualified with a diploma, I joined a yoga class run by Jivanmukta (Barbara Joseph) where the deeper aspects of Pranayama, Philosophy and Yoga Nidra changed my life and became the passion that it is today.
My teaching style emphasises the breath, healthy alignment and mindful asana put together for building strength & flexibility. Relaxation and Philosophy is woven through every session. My aim is to provide a safe confidential setting where students can be themselves. I take great joy in sharing my knowledge and experience with my students and I am extremely grateful to those who have shared theirs with me, Monica Burton, Late Patricia Scammell, Barbara Joseph, Paul Fox, Uma Dinsmore Tuli and Swami Pragyamurti of Satyananda Yoga.
I now run individual coaching sessions and group classes several times per week, and I also am the yoga lead at a number of NHS hospitals in the northwest London area.
My students are carefully guided and supported to work at their own level, and are encouraged not to give rise to ego but instead to internal strength and acceptance.
